Fail To Plan and Plan To Fail...
                                                          by Matt Holmes, PRO PTA

That's right I said it and what are you going to do about it?! Well I hope you will take my advice and start to plan. If you look at people that are successful in business, fitness or just life in general they have a dream; that dream turns into a goal and they make a plan to reach that goal. I can not stress this enough because it makes such a difference between almost making it to where you want to be and completely blowing it out of the water whatever your goals may be. I do not care if you are a beginner or a veteran in the fitness field most of us fail to plan on where we want to be. I admit I catch myself doing it time to time and have to stop and write it out. That is the major key here as well is writing it out, not just thinking about it. But write it down!! I want you to write down what you want in life if its fitness goals, relationships you want, business, a house everything. Stop right now and write it down!!.......I mean it right now, I don't care what your doing make the step to get to your goals compared to everyone else who falls short!!

Ok now that you have done that it is step one of the process. I am going to use fitness goals for the example now. Ok so you wrote down I want to lose X amount of weight(or whatever it may be) and that's great. Now I want you to work backwards from that start thinking about the changes and things you need to do in your life now to get there. If its eating better, great write what you need to start to change if its eating more nutrient dense foods and what kind foods that is. If it's eating smaller more frequents meals write down how many you need to be eating in a day. Write down what you enjoy to do as activities if its working out by lifting weights, running, hiking, biking great write them all out and how many times a week you want to do it and where you want to be fitness level wise with those activities. If you look now you can see your "success map" is starting to form and your basically putting together your full proof plan to get there. I want you to do this with all of your goals no matter how lame it might sound it's what separates the achievers from the plain dreamers.

Ok so the next step which is just as important as the first.....PUT YOUR PLAN TO WORK! Now that you have written it all out and do not worry if there are some gaps in what you write as we do not always have the answers up front they will come to you as you start but that's the key you have to start. I am going to be a little tough on you and say if you can not do this and start to do what you write down you will fail and I hate to say it because I hate to see it but that is why I am here writing this to you now is I want you to succeed and achieve everything you want in life no matter how big or small it may be or stupid it may sounds. You can do anything you want and get anything out of life you want but you have to start with what exactly you want and start with your game plan on how to get there. Now stop reading go out and start today, hell start now!!!

"Goals without a plan are just dreams and dreams without goals, remain dreams"

Supplements 101
by Matt Holmes, PRO PTA

Everywhere you look these days there is someone telling you that you must  take this supplement or that this one is better than the that one.  But really, what are the essential supplements you should be taking?  Well that is what I am here to tell you, in Part I of this three part article.  These articles are intended to give you a better understanding of each topic.  If you wish to know more about anything within these articles, please feel free to contact me (contact infro available at bottom of page).

I.  Multi-Vitamins and Minerals

How many of you take a Multi-Vitamin, Multi-Mineral supplement on a daily basis?  How many people do you know that take one?  I would guess the answer to both questions would be less than 50%.  A Multi-vitamin, Multi-Mineral supplement is one of the most over-looked supplements out there, and by far the most important.  EVERYONE should be taking a Multi-Vitamin, Multi-Mineral supplement!

One of the most important reasons everyone should take one is because more than 90% of us are not getting all the nutrients we need from our diets.  First, most people do not eat enough in a day to get all the vitamins and minerals they need.  Secondly,  most of the food the general population eats today is too processed.  During this processing, food loses its quality natural ingredients and then these ingredients are added back via synthetic vitamins and nutrients.  Synthetic vitamins and minerals cannot replace the original nutrients, as they are not assimilated by the human body as easily.

When you get your optimal intake of Vitamins and Minerals your overall health and performance increases dramatically.  Whether doing little day-to-day tasks, like getting ready in the morning, to complex workouts you will notice increased performance.  Also, vitamins and minerals play a huge part in the synthesis of rebuilding new cell tissue.  Basically, without Vitamins and Minerals your body would not function properly in a host of ways.

There are two classes of Vitamins your body needs: essential and non-essential.  There are 19 Vitamins discovered, so far, that are needed by our bodies.  Some of these our body produces naturally on a dialy basis, however, more is still needed as we only produce the bare minimum.  As you expend more energy, your body requires more Vitamins and Minerals.

In no particular order, these Vitamins are: Vitamin A, Beta Carotene, Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, Biotin, Vitamin C, Choline, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin F, Folic Acid, Inositol, Vitamin K, Vitamin P and PABA (Para-Amino-Benzoic-Acid).  Each of these plays a vital role in our bodies.  The difference between essential and non-essential Vitamins is that essential Vitamins must be derived from food or supplementation as our bodies cannot produce these itself.  Both essential and non-essential nutrients work together and aid each other, so no one nutrient is more important than another.
